MIP Seminars

Two hour mandatory information program seminars are held two or three times each month in Peterborough, Lindsay and Cobourg at the Family Court. These seminars assist individuals who are experiencing a separation or divorce in understanding and coping with the many issues they will face in the separation process. A lawyer will be on hand to discuss legal issues and the court process, and Mediators will discuss various methods of resolving issues. Sessions also help to increase parents’ understanding of the effect that ongoing conflict between separating parents can have on their children, and to encourage parents to consider their children’s needs throughout the process of resolving their disagreements. Attendance at a seminar is mandatory for couples involved in a court process, but optional for the general public. There is no cost to attend a seminar, but pre-registration is required. To check on dates and times, or to register, call the Family Law Information Centre in your community.
